Staff Selection Commission (SSC) will conduct the Combined Higher Secondary Level (CHSL) Exam 2017 in the month of Nov, 2017 (from 17th Nov. to 30th Nov, 2017). Although the Dates are only tentative and exact dates will be known, only when SSC CHSL 2017 Notification will be announced. As per the SSC Exam Calendar 2017-18, Upcoming CHSL Notification is scheduled to be announced on 5th August, 2017 and online applications can be submitted till, 4th September, 2017.

Meanwhile, there are also doubts of SSC releasing the CHSL 2017 Notification on time, as SSC had record of postposing the Exam Notifications. In 2016, CHSL Notification, was delayed by three months and announced in October.  

In 2016, almost all the SSC Exams are delayed due to unknown reasons and same is likely to be the case with CHSL. As we, all know the CGL 2016 Exam, that was scheduled in May has been postponed to August, 2016  It is worth mentioning here that CHSL Exam is known by many ways ie CHSL Exam, 10+2 Exam, LDC and DEO Exam. This exam is primarily conducted for Data Entry Operator (DEO) and Lower Division Clerks (LDC), but in 2015, there is an inclusion of Postal Assistant/Sorting Assistant post and In 2016, Court Clerk posts have been included.

As the CHSL 2017 Tier-1 Exam is tentatively scheduled to be held in Nov, so the Admit cards for CHSL 2017 Exam, can be downloaded from 1st or 2nd week of November, as SSC releases Admit cards at least 2 weeks before the exam date.

Since this is a 10+2 Level Exam, so the competition is much higher, as lakhs of candidates will be appearing for this exam. Who doesn't want a Government Job after 12th Class. So, If you want to crack this exam and not only cracking the written exam, will work, you have to score relatively high marks to maximize

This will open the CHSL Dialog box, from you can choose the appropriate link to download the PDF of the Notification.

Timeline for SSC CHSL Exam 2017


It is very important that you should know the Dates in advance, be it Online Registration Dates or Examination Dates.

1) Date for announcement of Notification : 5th August, 2017

2) Starting Date for Online Registration: 5th August, 2017

3) Closing Date for Online Application: 4th September, 2017

4) Availability of Admit Cards for CHSL Tier-1 Exam: 1st week of November.

5) Date of Written Exam: 17th to 30th November, 2017


Applicants are advised to apply online for the exam, well before the last date to avoid any last minutes trouble.

What are the Posts covered under SSC CHSL Exam ?


Unlike CGL Exam, that contains over 25 categories of posts in various departments and ministries, SSC CHSL Exam, is primarily conducted for only 2 Group C posts and these are

1) Lower Division Clerks (LDC)
2) Data Entry Operator (DEO)

In 2015 and 2016 CHSL Exam a new post Postal Assistant / Sorting Assistant was included. This will be interesting to see, whether this post will be retained for 2017 Exam or not. 

In 2016 over 5100 posts were advertised at the time of CHSL Notification.

Moreover, in 2016 CHSL Exam, a special post "Court Clerks" in also included in the vacancies. 

Here is the post wise break of vacancies for Qualifiers of CHSL 2016 Exam

1) Lower Division Clerks (LDC): 1321 posts
2) Data Entry Operator (DEO): 506 posts
3) Postal / Sorting Assistant: 3281 posts
4) Court Clerks: 26 posts

However, in 2017 it is expected that No. of vacancies would cross over 10,000. So gear up for 10000 Government Jobs in 2017 through SSC CHSL Exam 2017

Remember, the vacancies are only tentative or predicted, the exact figure will be know, only after the announcement of official Notification

Pay-Scales: Appointees to these posts through the CHSL Exam will be given monthly salary as per the below mentioned pay scales.

1) Data Entry Operator : Rs 5200 - Rs 20200 (GP: Rs 2400)
2) Lower Division Clerk : Rs 5200 - Rs 20200 (GP: Rs 1900)
3) Postal/Sorting Assistant : Rs 5200 - Rs 20200 (GP: Rs 2400)

What is the Eligibility Criteria ?


To appear in the Combined Higher Secondary Level Exam (10+2), applicants should full fill the below mentioned eligibility conditions

1) Applicant must an Indian National to appear in this exam

2) Age Limit: Applicant must have completed the age of 18 years and the maximum age should not exceed 27 years. The cut off date will be determined at the time of Notification only. Moreover, there is relaxation in upper age, as per the Govt rules.

3) Educational Qualification: Applicants must have passed the 10+2 Examination from any recognized Board or University in India. Those who are have their results awaited can also apply, subject to the condition, that they should have proof of passing the examination before 1st Aug, 2017

Note: Applicants must note that at time of submitting the online application or offline application, your eligibility will not be scrutinized, and as such, your admission to written exam is completely provisional. Therefore, applicants are advised to carefully read the eligibility conditions before apply for the exam.

In case of any mismatch or doubtfulness in your eligibility, you candidature is likely to be rejected.


Selection Process for SSC CHSL Exam 2017


The selection process for SSC CHSL (10+2) Level Exam, comprises of written Exam (Tier-1) followed by Descriptive Paper (Tier-2) and thereafter Skill test for Data Entry Operators and Type test on computer for Lower Division Clerks (LDC).

Syllabus for Written test (Tier-1) : The Written test for CHSL Exam 2017 will be held at different venues in the month of November, to be exact from 17th to 30th Nov, 2017.  

It is worth mentioning here that CHSL Tier-1 Exam is Computer based Exam (Online), and comprises of 100 Questions (MCQ's) covering four sections with overall composite time of 75 minutes.

1) Be careful while marking answers, as there is negative marking of 0.50 marks for every wrong answer.

2) The Exam, will be conducted in three different batches everyday. Applicants are advised to reach the Exam venue at least 30 minutes before the scheduled time.

Those, who qualify the Written exam, will be called for Tier-2 Stage, where candidates, have to appear for Descriptive test and those, who qualify the Descriptive paper, will be called for Skill/Typing test

SSC CHSL 2017 Admit Card for Tier-1 Exam


Your admission to Examination hall depends upon your venue and time as mentioned in the Admit Card. Without the Call letter, you won't be able to appear in the exam. All those candidates, who successfully submitted their application form, will be assigned Roll No.s (Admit Card)

1) CHSL 2017 Admit cards can be downloaded from the concerned Regional SSC Website, at least 2 weeks before the exam Date. As the CHSL Tier-1 Exam is scheduled from 17th to 30th Nov, 2017. So we can expect that Admit cards to be uploaded on SSC Websites from 1st week of November, 2017.

2) Remember, SSC, had discontinued sending the Paper Admit Cards to candidates, at their addresses. Now, the only way to get the Admit cards, is to be dowload it from the Website only.

3) In case, you didn't receive the call letter at least 1 week before the exam date, you should contact your Regional SSC Office, with supported document as proof that, you have submitted the application form.

Tentative Date: It is expected that Call Letters can be downloaded from the Websites from the 1st week of November.

How to Apply ?


Applicants who feel the charm of these Group C and D Government Jobs and willing to appear in the SSC CHSL Exam 2017, must submit their application form (Online Or Offline) before the last date i.e 4th Sept, 2017

Application Fees: SSC is best, when it comes to application fees. Unlike, SBI, IBPS , RBI and other organization that charges huge amount as application fees. SSC charges only Rs 100/- as application fees. Moreover, Female Candidates and applicants belonging to reserved categories are exempted from paying any application fee.

The application fees can be paid either through CRF stamps for Offline form and through Net Banking / Credit / Debit card those filling the forms through online mode.

Application form: You are free to choose between offline (paper) and online application form. However, the commission, recommends the usage of Online application form. The detailed instructions for filling or submitting the application form will be given in the Official Notification itself.

For those willing to apply through offline form, you can obtain the forms from the Local stationary shops and post these well in advance, so that they reach the commissions office before the Last date.
